Social Enterprise

What IS a Social Enterprise?!?

While there is no specific legal structure and rules for Social Enterprises, there are known definitions acknowledged by the governments of Australia.

The Finding Australia's Social Enterprise Sector 2016: Analysis report1 suggests the following definition.

"Social enterprises:

a) are led by an economic, social, cultural, or environmental mission consistent with a public or community benefit;

b) trade to fulfil their mission;

c) derive a substantial portion of their income from trade; and d) reinvest the majority of their profit/surplus in the fulfilment of their mission."

In a nutshell, we aim to be self sustaining and not having to rely on donations or sponsorships to cover our administration and staffing costs. Every dollar raised through fundraisers, donations and sponsorships all go towards providing
services to our Rare Families.
